Welcome to your New Reality

Who are you?
PAUSE...think and answer

So Who are you?
Are you your mind?

Have you seen an advert that says "unleash the power of your mind by doing X"?
So how real or how true is that?

This blog examines the mind and the realities that it creates  - the realities that we live in - why?

For a better inner world.

Your outer world is but a reflection of your inner world.  It shows up your fears and confidence.

Hypnotic Weight Control

Whether or not you are having weight control issues, the way your system controls your weight is hypnotic.

What do I mean?  Read on.

It is already well known that excessive stress boosts body weight.  This happens in two ways. Firstly, it encourages eating for emotional reasons rather than hunger.  Eating simply makes one feel good and when under stress we want to feel good as a relief if not anything else.

Secondly, the chemicals associated with stress cause the body to store calories instead of burning them.  According to your innate programming, the body is preparing you for survival in difficult times and you somehow need the extras to fend off famine.

The Inner Game of Weight Control

There is an inner game of everything.  Typically, many experience unhealthy levels of stress because they lack self-compassion and validation. This leads them to do too much for other people.  They may also maintain an inner dialogue that is hurtful and not uplifting.  Those who have positive, active helpful friends know the difference when they are separated from thes relationships.  Learn how to treat yourself well and you reverse this process.  As global levels of stress decrease with lifestyle, so does body mass.

Are you doing anything with your inner mind ?- to keep improving and seeing the positive or are you sucked into the  negative news media and demands of job and  society.  Is the environment too powerful for you to shake loose and go for the much needed vacation?  How about the mental loops of negativity that you can't even recognize as destructive?

Give yourself a break and relax into a healthier body.  See a hypnotherapist if you really can't relax and think that the world can not spin round without your efforts.

I believe we will all agree that the most difficult part of weight loss and maintenance is getting started. The mind resists changes, even healthy change.  We call this staying in the comfort zone.  To go out of this zone require us to take risk and the subconscious thinks that is too hazardous.

Control is the word.  If you are stuggling with your weight, don't delay. The sooner you bring it under control that happier you will be.  And there is no reason to let your subconscious dictate the weight that you want to be at.  The conscious mind knows the weight and shape we want to be in but somehow the subconscious program will keep you where you are.

You are what you Read

What do you normally read?
Fiction?
You have a fertile imagination I am sure.
Non-fiction?
You have encyclopedic knowledge I think...but not immediately
News?
You are in the know and have much to talk about to anyone
The Bible?
You are wise beyond many

And so read on....

FEAR

False
Expectations
Assumed
Real

And yet when fear grips you, you often have no way out by yourself.  You need an external source to change your reality to be out.  The worst part is that the fears  are often associated with circumstances and stuff that it easily becomes a phobia.

Consciously you know it's a false expectation but unconsciously your are gripped in paralysis.  I am afraid your unconscious mind has the greater control - overriding control in fact.  It's job is to protect you  - survival is the main machinery here.  Fear protects you from the predator - real or imagined!

I suggest hypnosis.

Do children get a Left Brain Education?

In case you're wondering - this is a blog from Singapore.  And yes, we want a left brain educated citizens in Singapore.  I sound rather tongue-in-cheek but it is true!

I was speaking to an expert the other day and she confessed that all teachers in her school are left-brain products.  Except for the principal, of course...she had to relate to both the teachers and parents in double quick time every day and she's whole-brain...other reasons for her promotion etc

To recap, a left brain dominant person would be good at details, extremely verbal, thinking easily in sequence etc... as opposed to a complete pictorial view and thinking in visuals, music and other non-verbals - in other words... imagination.  The right brain function is open to new ideas and exploration whereas the left brain is completely statistical and stepwise in approach to anything.  If you ever have dreams and can remember them, your mind is accessing imagination.

In truth, we need both.  We need to be whole-brain in approaching any subject.

But are your children getting a left brain education primarily?  Definitely so in Singapore...may be your country is different...When they enter the formal school at age 7, the left brain training begins.  For example, questions are not encouraged...It is common for a child not to put up their hands as they are afraid to ask a "silly" question.  How would you like to be reprimanded for asking what the date is at 7 years old?  You need to write it down as part of the written assignment of the day and you are not quite sure.  A bold child would but will your friends consider you 'stupid' or even worse have the teacher tellings you off for that?  If you did not hear clearly, do you ask the teacher to repeat herself...of course not! You ask your friends...it is safer that way.

The parent who buys up each and every assessment workbook for the child to practice on so that she is well prepared for the exam is only encouraging the child to store up standard answers.  When a non-standard question is set, panic and frustration that sets in is enough to force the exam mind into disarray...I am not saying that we don't need the workbooks but how many of you think that the only way for the child to improve is doing more homework

Are parents Hypnotist?

Are you a parent?

If you are...I think you are a hypnotist...practicing Accidental Hypnotism.

When you do that constant repetitive instruction ... for your child's good of course...and you repeat it in so many ways...enticing, commanding, tonality changed, bribing, rewarding with praise or otherwise....and stopping only when you have installed the desired behaviour successfully.

Why...YOU ... are the hypnotist.!

Of course, we hypnotists use the word "suggestion"  but it is really an instruction to the subconscious mind.

And children are the easiest subjects where hypnotism is concerned.  They normally do not question in their mind as the belief system is just forming...they believe you because you the parent, is the authority figure...just as teachers are the authority figure that they accept when you send them to school.

Remember the first time they come home from school all enraptured with what the teacher taught?
Or have you not experienced disagreement as your child comes home and proclaims that the teacher is right and not you?  Like it or not, that is one of the first things that a school does to your child's model of the world

For that matter, the teacher is practicing Accidental Hypnotism too.

Parents, I welcome your comments
